Investigators said Kacy Kincaid’s son, Kaiel Kincaid, was found unresponsive by officers in October at the AdventHealth Hospital located at 1500 SW 1st Ave.

Ocala police said toxicology reports found several illicit substances in the baby’s blood including fentanyl, xylazine and methamphetamine.

According to a newly released arrest affidavit, officers said the incident began with an argument between Kacy Kincaid and her sister at a home along 2150 NW 21st St. Investigators said Kincaid’s sister arrived at the home late on Oct. 10 only to find the doors were locked and Kacy Kincaid inside her sister’s room asleep with the 9-month-old. Kacy Kincaid’s sister stated she could tell the mother was under the influence of alcohol and could smell it on her, the report said.

The two women later got into an argument and investigators said Kacy Kincaid’s sister called the 9-month-old’s presumed father to help with the situation, police said. Not long after the child’s father arrived, the fight ended and the two sisters went into their respective rooms, the affidavit explained. A short time later, Kincaid’s sister found the baby who was described as being “stiff” and unresponsive.

The baby was rushed to the hospital where it later died.

Police said they tried to question Kacy Kincaid at the hospital but said she appeared to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol and could not keep a conversation, the news release stated. Before she was transported to the Ocala Police Department, investigators said they found 5 grams of Fentanyl stuffed in her bra. Kacy Kincaid’s sister told police at the hospital that the mother is a known drug user of fentanyl, heroin and Xanax.

Toxicology results found the same drugs that Kacy Kincaid had in her procession were the same found in the child’s blood during the autopsy.
