Two local DJs will also be there, Mz.Marina and DJ Jay-R, doing live mixes, playing the biggest songs from Drake and J. Cole as each team goes back and forth.

One of the instructors behind the event, Mike McConnell, said his goal is to make yoga more accessible in Pine Hills, with a long-term goal of reaching other underserved communities.

“Yoga has been so transformative for me. As an instructor, as a kid who grew up in Pine Hills and as an Evans High School alum, I desire to see more students and instructors in classes that look like my family and look like my friends,” McConnell said.

“My goal is to create a fun and safe space where people can freely explore the benefits of yoga, and hopefully inspire them to further pursue a practice of their own,” he said.

McConnell said a friend actually told him about yoga and how it could help him with an old knee injury from running.

“One class in, and I was hooked,” McConnell said.
