‘Urgent situation:’ Marion County Animal Services over capacity after taking in 56 dogs from cruelty case

Pet visitation days are Tuesday through Saturday

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – Officials at Marion County Animal Services said they are in an “urgent situation” after receiving 56 dogs from a cruelty case.

They announced that they have been over capacity for months and are asking for the public’s help.

In a social media post, officials asked for help fostering animals if you are on the fence about adopting.

“We are reaching out to you, the public, to be the change you want to see in the world. Make a commitment to help a shelter dog, which is the majority of our population,” the release read in part. “We know some of you have been thinking about adoption. Scared of commitment but want to help? Foster today.”

Officials said pet visitation hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Animal Services is located at 5701 SE 66th St. in Ocala.
