WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Not many can say they’ve gotten behind the wheel of a luxury sports car, but at Legoland Florida, car enthusiasts can get an up-close look at the park’s coolest model yet.

This week, Legoland Florida Resort unveiled its life-size Ferrari 296 GTS model. Weighing in at two tons (heavier than the real car), the LEGO version is 15 feet long by 7 1/2 feet wide by 4 feet tall. The model has working headlights and a steering wheel, a driver’s door that opens, and a roaring engine. The car is also equipped with real wheels with brake pads made out of LEGO bricks. In all, it took master builders 1,850 hours to build.

Guests can check out the LEGO Ferrari 296 GTS in its own showroom of sorts at the new upcoming LEGO Ferrari Build and Race attraction. The experience will feature a “build zone” that will allow guests to build their own race car, a “test zone” that lets guests fine-tune their vehicle’s performance and a “virtual race zone” that will allow guests to digitalize their car and race toward the checkered flag.

The new experience will also have a special area for the park’s youngest drivers, so they can design their own Ferrari using bigger bricks in the LEGO DUPLO build zone.
