BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A Palm Bay man arrested in a shooting that left three people dead and two injured last month was indicted Tuesday on murder charges, according to the State Attorney’s Office for the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit.

A Brevard Grand Jury charged Ta’Shawn Taylor, 26, with three counts of first-degree premeditated murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder in the deaths of Lisa Suglam, 31; Angela Suglam, 60; and Stephen Suglam, 79. The two shooting victims who survived were a 15-year-old boy and Gary Taylor, 59, the latter of whom told investigators he played dead to avoid being shot.

After a 911 caller around 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 20 reported that several people had been shot at the Woodlake Village Apartment Homes, Palm Bay police located Lisa, Angela and Stephen’s bodies. The two injured were hospitalized with gunshot wounds, with the boy suffering critical injuries.

The grand jury heard testimony from Palm Bay investigators, a lay witness and the Brevard County medical examiner before returning with the indictments, the state attorney’s office said in a statement.

Prosecutors say witnesses at the scene spotted Taylor driving away, later to be stopped by police and arrested within the hour on Babcock Street. He remains held at the Brevard County Jail on no bond.

The state has 45 days after arraignment to decide whether to seek the death penalty for Taylor.

A trial date has not yet been set.
