BUSHNELL, Fla. – The 2024 Sumter County Fair is coming up and it features carnival rides, competitive events, food, and live entertainment.
Two country singers will be performing at the fair. Kameron Marlowe will take the stage on Friday, March 8 and Easton Corbin will be performing on Saturday, March 9.
Corbin first rose to fame in 2010 with the release of his two No. 1 hit singles — “A Little More Country Than That” and “Roll With It.”
More recently, his song “Marry That Girl” released last year has been a streaming hit and it’s playing on the radio.
Corbin grew up in Trenton, Florida, a city outside of Gainesville.
“My upbringing is a very important part of who I am, not only as an artist, but a person in my community and my friends,” Corbin said. “Agriculture and that way of life naturally runs through my blood.”
He grew up on his grandparent’s cattle farm, where he was introduced to country music.
“It’s funny, you know. People, when they hear me talk, they’re like, ‘Man we ain’t never heard anybody from Florida talk that way.’ I said, ‘Yeah, ‘cause you probably ain’t been to the real parts of Florida.’ I think when people think Florida, they think beaches and palm trees, Disney World, Miami, but it’s so much more than that. It’s a diverse culture, deeply rooted in agriculture and just a country way of life,” Corbin said.
He went to the University of Florida. He said during that time, he was going back and forth to Nashville, Tennessee, recording demos, writing and working his way up. After he earned an agribusiness degree through the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, in 2006, he moved to Nashville.
“I made some connections, luckily they were the right connections and got the opportunity to play in front of some very important people from Universal Music Group and they really liked what they heard and they gave me a shot and here I am today,” Corbin said.
Corbin has seven top 10 singles and three American Country Awards. He was also named Billboard’s 2010 Top New Country Artist.
Gates open for both country shows at 5:30 p.m.
You can pay $30 for one night or $50 for both nights.
Shows at the Sumter County Fair are free with admission, but it does not include the concert. Gate admission is free with the purchase of a concert ticket.
There will be live performances daily and strolling acts throughout the grounds.
