Troopers said for unknown reasons, the driver of the Buick briefly allowed his vehicle to “travel off the curved roadway onto the north shoulder.” When the driver overcorrected, the vehicle veered across the centerline where it’s left front struck the left side of the Toyota.

After the collision with the Toyota, the EMS driver – identified as a 29-year-old Dunnellon man – observed the Buick headed in his direction. He attempted to avoid a crash by traveling to the south shoulder where the Buick struck the EMS tuck head on, according to the FHP.

The drivers of all three vehicles and a passenger in the EMS truck, identified as a 27-year-old Dunnellon man – were taken to ORMC with serious injuries.

Troopers said the driver of the Buick was cited for failure to drive within a single lane.

Florida Highway Patrol is investigating.
