Police said they were called to a children’s hospital on Tuesday afternoon after the baby was examined by a doctor.

Upon arrival, officers were told about the rib fractures by the doctor, who explained that they were in various stages of healing, an arrest affidavit said.

The doctor told police the child might have been abused, investigators said. However, there were no indications of other health concerns aside from the fractures.
