Man accused in Tavares double stabbing turns himself in, police say

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – A man accused in a stabbing that left a father and son hospitalized in critical condition turned himself in Tuesday to the U.S. Marshals Service, according to Tavares police.

Daryl Shack Jr., 34, faces two counts of attempted first-degree murder, booking records show.

A warrant was obtained for Shack on Sunday night, the Tavares Police Department said on social media. Officers had responded at 1:43 p.m. that day to a medical call in the 700 block of N Disston Avenue, locating the stabbing victims, who were airlifted to trauma centers, police said.

The victims were identified as 55-year-old Frederick Crawford II, aka Lee, and his son, Frederick Crawford III, 30, aka Trey, who were described as being in critical condition and critical but stable condition at last check, respectively.

Police described the stabbing as an isolated incident among Shack, Trey and Lee.

Shack on Tuesday agreed to meet with the U.S. Marshals Service on the warrant, where police said he was taken into custody. He is being held at the Lake County Jail on no bond, the post states.
