MARION COUNTY, Fla. – Three men were arrested this month, accused of being involved in burglarizing more than 40 vehicles throughout Marion County — all of them unlocked, according to investigators.

Deputies arrested Warren Cavagnaro, 45, and Michael Madigan, 58, on April 18, while Kyle Thompson, 42, was arrested on April 24.

Deputies said Cavagnaro was initially seen where four vehicle burglaries had happened in the area of NW 121st Avenue. They said they saw him drop a clear bag of cocaine on the ground. When they asked Cavagnaro about the burglaries, he said he was just going for a walk and had nothing to do with them.

However, deputies said in later interviews that Cavagnaro admitted to breaking into vehicles every night for two months. Deputies said Cavagnaro told them he only hit unlocked vehicles and stole eight guns among other valuables.

Among the areas deputies believe Cavagnaro hit included Dunnellon, West Marion and the northwest districts, including the On Top of the World neighborhood, where they said Cavagnaro burglarized 10 vehicles on March 20 alone. They said Cavagnaro admitted to stealing a gun in that neighborhood and also stealing a Toyota SUV because he needed a ride home.

Cavagnaro told deputies Thompson took part in many of the burglaries. Deputies said Madigan admitted to driving Thompson and Cavagnaro to the neighborhoods.

Cavagnaro is facing a slew of charges, including grand theft of a motor vehicle, armed burglary, burglary, theft and cocaine possession. Thompson and Madigan are also facing charges of burglary of a conveyance.

Detectives are still investigating and more charges could be filed against the three men.
