SANFORD, Fla. – Tank Dell, a wide receiver for the Houston Texans who attended high school in Daytona Beach, was one of 10 people who was shot early Sunday at a venue near Sanford, authorities confirmed on Monday.
Dell, who went to Daytona Beach Mainland High School, suffered minor injuries after being shot at Cabana Live, an event venue and restaurant located at 4380 Carraway Place, the Houston Texans posted on social media.

Officials from the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office said that a 16-year-old boy opened fire at the venue after there was a fight. The teen was arrested on several charges, including one count of attempted murder.
The nine other victims also sustained minor injuries, Seminole County Sheriff Dennis Lemma said at a Monday news conference, adding that eight of them have been released from the hospital.
Dell, a former University of Houston standout, was drafted by the Texans in 2023.

A statement from the Texans read in part, “We have been made aware that Tank Dell was a victim of a shooting in Sanford, Fla. last night. He sustained a minor wound but has been released from the hospital and he is in good spirits.”
According to sister station KPRC-TV, Dell was in Florida to visit his mother in his hometown of Daytona Beach.
The Texans’ dynamic wide receiver previously made a full and speedy recovery from a broken fibula that interrupted a strong rookie season.
