Apopka police say Bodley applied to be a police officer and sat for an interview in June 2021. As part of the interview, he underwent a voice stress examination, where the examiner says Bodley described sexually abusing a child years before. He was under 18 at the time.

Apopka police opened a criminal investigation, found the victim and met with the victim and the victim’s mother.

Prosecutors say during the trial Bodley testified and denied sexually abusing the victim, even though he admitted to it on three separate occasions to the police department.

Bodley was convicted by the jury after a three-day trial. He is set to be sentenced on June 24.
