Man wanted in Winter Springs arrested in Volusia County

WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. – A suspect has been arrested in Volusia County after a weekend shooting in Winter Springs.

Investigators on Sunday obtained an arrest warrant for Rey Antonio Sands, 31.

Sands is facing charges of attempted second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in connection with the shooting, police said.

Police said the shooting happened on South Edgemon Avenue, just before 8 p.m.

The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to officers.

Police said the victim and the suspect “appear to know each other,” but the victim was not cooperating as of Saturday night.
