ORLANDO, Fla. – Pickleball players joined forces this weekend to raise money for Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida.
A two-day tournament wrapped up Sunday, raising thousands of dollars for a good cause.
If you haven’t heard about the latest pickleball craze, participants told us it’s about fun, getting exercise and practicing their hand-eye coordination, all while helping out a local charity.
Terry Daffron, a volunteer with Orlando Advanced Pickleball, sponsored the tournament.
“Orlando Advanced Pickleball decided, ‘Hey, how can we get the community of the ball players together and do something to benefit the community?’ So, we decided on Second Harvest Food Bank,” Daffron said.

The volunteers told us that every registration provided 40 meals for families and individuals facing hunger in Central Florida. That’s at least 11,000.
