Armed and dangerous: Leesburg police ID man wanted in fatal shooting of store clerk

LEESBURG, Fla. – Leesburg police on Monday identified the man accused of shooting and killing a store clerk last week during a robbery.

The police department said they are searching for Alex Lopez, 25, who they believe killed Raied Shihadeh, 51, Thursday night at the Fast Stop Superette on Picciola Road, east of U.S. Highway 441.

Officers tried to locate Lopez after they identified him Sunday, but they were unable to find him.

According to Leesburg police, officers were called to the store for a robbery and shooting and found Shihadeh unconscious on the floor with at least one apparent gunshot wound. Shihadeh was airlifted to Ocala Regional Hospital, where he died, police said.

Lopez faces several charges, including premeditated murder and armed robbery.

Lopez is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Leesburg Police Department at 352-787-2121.
