ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – The skeletal remains of a homicide victim found near Apopka in 1993 were recently identified and have assisted the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in moving one step closer to solving the 30-year-old cold case, according to detectives.

When the remains were discovered on Binion Road close to Apopka in October 1993, an investigation determined the person’s cause of death to be homicide, according to the sheriff’s office. However, for over 30 years, the sheriff’s office has been unable to determine the identity of the victim.

This has all changed when the sheriff’s office partnered with Othrams Labs and identified the remains as 48-year-old Richard Wick.

Officials are now asking for any information that might assist in bringing closure to the cold case and “bringing justice to Richard and resolution to his family,” the sheriff’s office posted on Facebook.
