Chicago-style cuisine coming to Waterford Lakes shopping center

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Portillo’s announced Tuesday that the Chicago-based restaurant chain will open a new location near Orlando later this year.

The new location will feature a diner-style design, consisting of a dining room and outdoor patio, as well as a double-lane drive-thru. It will be located in Waterford Lakes shopping center on Alafaya Trail, just south of the University of Central Florida’s campus and is expected to open by the end of the year, according to Portillo’s.

Portillo’s is a fast-casual restaurant specializing in Chicago-style street food, including its signature hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches, char-grilled burgers and more. The newest addition to the chain will be the seventh location in Florida and the third in the Central Florida area.

“Orlando has been a great new market for Portillo’s over the past few years,” Portillo’s CEO said in a news release. “We’ve loved serving our unrivaled Chicago street food to the Orlando community, and we’re excited to continue to give guests in the Sunshine State even more convenience with additional restaurants. Next up, we look forward to even more continued growth across the Sunbelt.”
