ORLANDO, Fla. – Orange County Animal Services will be hosting a summer adoption event and waiving adoption costs for pets starting Monday.
During the event, which runs June 24-30, adoption fees for all pets with destination names will be waived. This initiative is a part of the shelter’s goal to help give more pets a home this summer season, making it easier for residents to foster or adopt by eliminating processing fees.

Officials said the shelter has nearly 700 pets currently in its care. Despite already providing for a significant number of homeless dogs, the shelter is bracing for a heavy week of intakes due to a temporary stray acceptance closure last week.
The shelter stated in a news release that it desperately “needs additional foster homes, both for cats and dogs, to achieve the greatest lifesaving possible.”
Orange County Animal Services provides all essential care supplies and veterinary needs for pets in its foster care system.
A live tally of all of the dogs and cats in the shelter can be found on the Orange County Animal Service’s website. Information about the different pets in need of a home, or the shelter’s adoption process and foster program, can also be found online.
