Martz explained the city had to reduce the size of fireworks this year due to some of the new structures near the lake.

“This year, they are going to be a little smaller, but we are going to have more of them . We are going to shoot about 15,000 fireworks, about 10 every second for the entire show,” Martz said.

Altamonte Springs police as well as other agencies will be at the event Wednesday to make sure things go smoothly.

“Some of the safety points we want to touch on today is when they do come in the event is from 5 to 10 they will find that we are going to have check points. These check points they will be checking bags - backpacks and any coolers,” Master Police Officer Deana DiPaola said.

Paramedics with Seminole County will have multiple crews on site for any medical emergencies but are suggesting people hydrate before and during the event.

“It’s going to be extremely hot out here again we are expecting a heat index of over 104 on the day of the event,” Assistant Chief Tod Zellers with Seminole County Fire Department said.
