BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A U.S. Coast Guard crew responded early Saturday to a distress call after a captain’s vessel flooded and capsized offshore Port Canaveral, helping get the six people who were on board back to dry land.

The responding crew arrived to find that a good Samaritan had helped the group out of the water, U.S. Coast Guard Station Port Canaveral said on social media.

The six distressed people were transferred to the Coast Guard’s 45-foot response boat-medium for transport back to shore, the post states.

According to the post, the distress call went out over channel 16. The Coast Guard station recommended that all on the water keep a marine-grade radio tuned to channel 16 in case of such emergencies.
