Are you suffering from hearing loss? Expert explains early signs

Ameena Al-Jame joins Breakfast With Bridgett

Monday on Breakfast With Bridgett, a hearing care professional joined in to share insight on hearing loss prevention and treatment.

Ameena Al-Jame from Miracle-Ear says she’s seeing an increase in patients 18 to 55 years old seeking hearing care because of their daily exposure to noisy environments and devices.

And since hearing loss is permanent and progressive, she says moderation, knowing the signs of an issue, getting hearing screenings, and making adjustments should be done as soon as possible.

“Some early signs of hearing loss would be trouble in a noisy environment, having to turn up the TV louder, asking people to repeat themselves more often,”

Al-Jame said.

Al-Jame says the Gift Of Sound Foundation is helping people who can’t afford custom hearing aids and that over-the-counter devices can also help, but professional hearing screenings should always come first.
