Florida athlete discusses recent win at adaptive sports competition

DJ Loheit joins Breakfast with Bridgett

ORLANDO, Fla. – A familiar face stopped by Tuesday on Breakfast with Bridgett.,

Tampa’s own viral dancing sensation, DJ Loheit, is now inspiring others through competitive sports for kids with disabilities.

You may remember our interview with him in 2019 about his viral dance videos.

Now 12 years old, he recently won six medals and set five new national records at the Hartford Nationals Adaptive Sports Competition.

He said he’s enjoying the journey.

“So I won six medals, I did track, 100, 200, 60 and then throwing shotput, discus, and javelin. I feel great about it, it makes me feel happy and I like to encourage other people,” he said.

He said he also enjoys meeting so many other kids who have disabilities like him and having fun competing.

Next up, DJ is headed a WNBA game in Los Angeles to dance in a halftime show.

And he’s not done with sports, he says he’ll continue training because his goal is the Paralympics in four years.
