The Pico Hotel is in downtown Sanford. Pico stands for Plant Investment Company and it hosted travelers who came by rail and boat. It was owned by Henry B. Plant.
Its restaurant was operated by the Takach family for some time and originally there was an onion dome on the roof, but it was destroyed in a storm in the 1950s.

Its brick exterior resembles other notable buildings owned by Plant, like the Tampa Bay Hotel — now known as Plant Hall — the iconic building at University of Tampa and the Ocala House.
