1 dead after sedan crashes into tree in Marion County, FHP says

Crash happened on State Road 35 near NE 24 Street

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A 73-year-old Ocala man died in a crash Thursday evening in Marion County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

At 4:57 p.m., the man crashed a Toyota Corolla into a tree along southbound State Road 35, just south of NE 24 Street, an FHP crash report states.

According to troopers, the sedan traveled off the roadway, onto the west grassy shoulder and into the woods, where the front of the Corolla struck the tree.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene by Marion County Fire Rescue.

FHP is still investigating.
