COCOA BEACH, Fla. – A “suspicious incident” caused Cocoa Beach Junior/Senior High School to be evacuated on Tuesday afternoon, according to police.
Cocoa Beach police announced on social media that buildings were evacuated. Detectives say they’ve identified a suspect who lives out of the state. The investigation is ongoing.
Police said students were safe and did not need to be picked up from school.
At 1:34 p.m., police said that they had cleared the school and students were able to return to classrooms.
“The school will send updates to parents with any additional changes with student’s schedules,” a news release read in part.
This is the second threat at Cocoa Beach Jr. Sr. High School in as many days. On Monday police arrested a 13-year-old boy after a threat online was identified.
