ORLANDO, Fla. – In a surprise move, the CEO of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority announced his resignation on Wednesday.
In a letter read by GOAA Chairman Tim Weisheyer during a board meeting, Kevin Thibault cited that his wife had been diagnosed with an illness and “he needed to focus his energies on her in the years ahead.”

According to a statement to News 6, Weisheyer expressed his concern about the progression of Ms. Thibault’s illness and also his disappointment that Thibault’s tenure would end soon.

Thibault was named to the role in 2022 right at the time when the Orlando International Airport was undergoing a huge transformation with the addition of Terminal C. The airport has also seen record travel days over the past year. In March, Thibault told News 6 that more than 60 million passengers are expected to pass through the gates in 2024.
Before becoming the GOAA CEO, Thibault served as the Florida Department of Transportation secretary.
Thisbault’s resignation will be effective Jan. 31, 2025.
