BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A Florida mother was arrested Wednesday after her child missed over 30 days of school in a three-month period, according to court documents.
According to a court summons filed in May, 34-year-old Brittany Messineo failed to have her child attend elementary school in Brevard County 33 times from Jan. 23 to April 23.

The student also had a history of missing school in the 2021-22 and 2022-23 school years.
According to a report, the child had 102 unexcused absences in the 2021-22 school year and 79 unexcused absences in the 2022-23 school year.
Messineo faces a charge of failure to require school attendance along with failure to appear in court.
