BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – Police arrested three people, all under the age of 20, at Rockledge High School on Friday after the school was put on lockdown because of a report of a gun on campus.

Rockledge Police Chief Christopher Crawford said officers received the report around 12:15 p.m. and put students under a shelter-in-place order. Crawford said the order was upgraded to a lockdown during an investigation.

Three people, ages 15, 17 and 19, were subsequently arrested by Rockledge police, but the agency did not specify the charges or say how they were connected to the investigation or the school.

The lockdown was lifted before 3 p.m. and students were dismissed from school. No one was hurt.

“While I am sorry this incident may have caused stress to our students and their families, it was necessary to make certain of their safety,” said Crawford in a statement. “I want to make it clear that violence, threats of violence, and/or weapons will not be tolerated in the City of Rockledge schools. I also want to make it clear that association with, knowledge of, or assistance to those making threats or possessing weapons will not be tolerated.”

Anyone with information regarding what happened is asked to call the police department at 321-690-3988.
