ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Museum of Art is set to have a first-of-its-kind event where skateboarding icon Tony Hawk will be part of a town hall discussion moderated by renowned photographer J. Grant Brittain.
The museum has a new exhibit called “PUSH” that features ‘80s skateboarding photography from Brittain. It captures the spirit and evolution of skate culture and pays homage to the art of skateboarding.

Brittain captured photos of 11-year-old Hawk and was instrumental in documenting the formative years of the legendary skateboarder’s career. He’s mentored dozens of photographers and he’s revered by skateboarders around the world.
On Nov. 7, the evening will start with a private meet and greet with Hawk and Brittain. Visitors will have a chance to take pictures and get autographs. The event will then feature a town hall as the two recount 40 years of friendship and collaboration, discuss the intersection of art and skateboarding, and their passion for inspiring future generations.
The goal of the conversation is to provide perspective on the art behind the photos in the exhibit and the stories they tell. Visitors will have a chance to submit questions that may be answered during the discussion.
