14-year-old boy dies in shooting at Huntington on the Green condos in Orange County

Boy ID’d as Vincent Jones; 2nd teen expected to recover

ORLANDO, Fla. – One of two 14-year-old boys who were shot at an Orange County condo complex has died, sheriff’s officials said Friday.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office identified the boy as Vincent Jones.

Jones was found shot Wednesday night at the Huntington on the Green condos on Huntington Green Court. He was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and died Thursday night, deputies said.

Jones attended Oak Ridge High School in Orlando, and grief counselors were at the school on Friday, according to Orange County Public Schools.

The other 14-year-old boy, who showed up later at a hospital, suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and is expected to recover, according to sheriff’s officials.

Investigators believe both of the boys were shot in the same incident, and that the shooting was not a random act of violence.

“It is still the very early stages of this homicide investigation and we have no further updates to release at this time,” OCSO said in a statement. “Our detectives continue to follow leads in this case and we will send out updates as new information becomes available.”

Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to call Crimeline at 800-423-8477.
