Arrest made months after fatal shooting of man in Osceola County

Jordany Ramos-Oliveras faces premeditated murder charge

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – A 24-year-old man is accused of shooting and killing another man in Osceola County, according to the sheriff.

Deputies responded on Saturday, Aug. 24, to a smoke shop located at 4838 West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, where they found the victim, 23-year-old Onyx Ramirez, with a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“During the investigation, detectives with my office were able to find surveillance videos in the area, and the videos that we obtained caught the murder on camera. The killer can be seen pulling out a gun and pointing it toward the back of the victim’s head, pulling the trigger and killing him,” Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez said during a news conference Tuesday announcing the arrest.

The suspect, Jordany Ramos-Oliveras, went to Puerto Rico about 24 hours after the shooting. He was extradited back to Osceola County and booked into jail on Friday.

Lopez said the extradition took a while because the suspect was fighting the extradition, but it was ultimately denied.

The sheriff said the shooting is believed to have stemmed from a disagreement between the two.

“We don’t have a lot of details on why this all happened. Obviously, it was an argument that escalated to the point where this guy thought it was OK to stand behind him like a coward and shoot him in the back of head and kill him,” Lopez said.

Lopez also said a friend of Ramos-Oliveras was nearby and was shot in the hand.

Ramos-Oliveras faces charges of premeditated murder and discharging a firearm in public.
