Sumter County hosts workshop to educate residents on tenant rights and protections

Free workshop empowers Sumter County renters with key legal insights

SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. – Community Legal Services is stepping up to help Sumter County residents understand their rights and responsibilities as renters with a free “Know Your Rights Workshop” on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024.

The session will take place from 2-3 p.m. at the Martin Luther King Community Center, located at 101 Dr. Martin Luther King Ave. in Wildwood.

The workshop will cover crucial topics for renters, including guidance on handling repair requests, understanding the eviction process, and recognizing common scams that target tenants. These issues often affect vulnerable renters, and CLS is committed to providing accessible, no-cost legal assistance to help residents better protect themselves.

Community Legal Services aims to empower residents, particularly families who may lack access to affordable legal representation, by increasing awareness of tenant rights and offering legal guidance.
