New video released 3 years after father of 12 shot to death while walking dog in Orlando

Police seek clues in death of D.J. White

ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando police on Friday released new video (watch above) in connection to a homicide, three years after a man was shot and killed while walking his pet dog.

D.J. White, 35, was fatally shot Nov. 29, 2021, at the Timber Sound Apartments in the 4800 block of Raleigh Street, southeast of Kirkman Road and State Road 408.

Police posted on X that an unknown assailant approached White, shot him and ran away. Officers were called to the scene and found White dead.

In the newly-released surveillance video, the culprit is seen walking through the apartment complex. The assailant was wearing a white hoodie over his head, a black shirt, a black jacket and black pants.

White’s family, who described him a father of 12, spoke shortly after the fatal shooting.

“It’s going to hurt his kids because they love their daddy,” said Margaret White, the victim’s mother, shortly after his death. “It’s going to hurt them. It’s going to take a toll on his kids.”

Police said anyone with information about White’s shooting death is urged to come forward.

“(Nov. 29) marks the three-year anniversary of the murder of DJ Lamar White,” Orlando police posted on X. “The investigation into his murder is still ongoing, and detectives are once again asking the community for assistance in bringing justice to DJ and his family. In the early morning of November 29, 2021, DJ was walking his family dog at the Timbersound Apartments (4849 Raleigh Street) when an unknown assailant approached him. The suspect approached DJ, shot him, and fled the apartment complex on foot. For the first time, we are releasing surveillance video from the night DJ  was murdered.
