Osceola County woman indicted on murder charge in daughter’s bathtub drowning death

Kelsey Glover accused of holding daughter’s head in bathtub

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – An Osceola County woman accused of holding her daughter’s head underwater in a bathtub has been formally charged by a grand jury.

Kelsey Glover, 35, was arrested on Nov. 20 after her 14-year-old daughter was found unresponsive in their home on Cambourne Drive in Poinciana. The grand jury indicted Glover on a first-degree murder charge and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez said during a news conference there were multiple calls made about a “violent incident” at the home. Lopez said there were four people in the home when the incident happened: Glover, her daughter, another child and someone else who lived with them.

Deputies arrived and spoke with a witness, who told investigators that the girl was unresponsive in the bathroom.

“When the officers get there, they’re actually wrestling a hammer away from (Glover), and she’s trying to strike the lady who’s trying to prevent her from harming her daughter,” Lopez said. “... Witnesses also told deputies that they saw Ms. Glover holding her 14-year-old daughter’s head underwater in the bathtub, and they tried to stop her but were unsuccessful. Eventually, Ms. Glover began attacking and chasing these witnesses around the house with a hammer, which led them to call 911.”

Glover’s daughter was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The medical examiner determined the girl’s cause of death was drowning.

Lopez also said that there was a “domestic issue” at that house in the past, which involved Glover battering her husband (the father of the 14-year-old), who later got an injunction against Glover.
