It’s a chance for pet owners to get a picture with Santa and their four-legged friend as well as an opportunity for the community to meet and adopt some of the cats and dogs waiting to find a new home.
Steven Learner, Seminole County Animal Services interim division manager, said the shelter is overcapacity.
All of the adoptions at Saturday’s event are sponsored by local businesses and community leaders, which means anyone who adopts a dog or cat during the event will not pay an adoption fee.
“It’d be a great way to give them a new chance at life,” Learner said.
One of the dogs available will be 11-year-old Major, pictured at the top of this story. Learner said Major is mentally not 11-years-old. He came in as a stray and has been a great dog for the shelter to get out in the community. They want to find him a good home on Saturday.
There will be food trucks and pet-themed vendors selling gifts for the holiday season.
Joining Animal Services will be local rescue groups including Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando, T.E.A.R.S. of Seminole County, CLP Animal Rescue, Florida Boxer, Howling Wolf Acres, Husky Haven, Noodles Animal Rescue, Pet Rescue By Judy, Spay Neuter Nation, and SE German Shorthaired Pointer Rescue.
