ORLANDO, Fla. – Tuesday on Breakfast with Bridgett, we talked to a licensed counselor about how to deal with various types of grief around the holiday season.
It’s a time that can be emotionally taxing for those dealing with grief brought on by loss or life changes.
Dr. Treshonda Baucom of Enriched Life Counseling says being honest about feelings, setting realistic expectations and reaching out for support is important all year round even during holidays.
Finding ways to remember and celebrate loved ones together during the holidays can add comfort. When it comes to life changes, Baucom urges people not to withdraw, but to reach out for healthy support and connection.
And Baucom says it’s OK if you don’t feel joy and cheer 24/7, and counseling helps equip you with healthy tools to work through your grief.
