Man accused of shooting at Osceola home nabbed after high-speed pursuit. Here’s what we know

David Gomez-Posso, 25, arrested in Charlotte County, deputies say

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Osceola County deputies said the man who fired several rounds outside a home in a Kissimmee area neighborhood Tuesday was captured in Southwest Florida on Tuesday evening.

In a news briefing on Tuesday evening, Osceola Sheriff Marcos Lopez announced that deputies had responded to the shooting at around 1:30 p.m. along Orchid Lane, near the intersection of Woodcrest Boulevard and Michigan Avenue.

Lopez said the suspect — identified as David Gomez-Posso, 25 — was the father of the victim’s unborn child, and he came to the house Tuesday and fired several rounds from outside before fleeing the area.

According to Lopez, Gomez-Posso had also broken into the home on Monday afternoon and threatened the victim with a gun.

“(The victim) has unreported domestic violence and then now reported,” Lopez stated during the briefing. “But as to the history with this guy, he doesn’t have a lot of history here in Osceola County, or at this house.”

Following Tuesday’s shooting, Lopez urged other domestic violence victims to reach out if they experience anything similar.

“If someone supposedly loves you, or he’s going to be the father of your unborn child, or you’re in a relationship with a significant other, and they have to put their hands on you, they have to threaten you with a firearm — there’s something wrong with this guy. And you’re not in a relationship with someone who cares about you.

(Gomez-Posso) could have probably killed her last night. He didn’t. Today, he came back. It’s really important that when these kinds of things happen, you need to call right away...

Call someone. Don’t stay alone. Because last night, (the victim) didn’t call, and now he comes back.”

No one was hurt during Tuesday’s shooting, but it led to scary moments in the neighborhood.

The property’s homeowner, Jennie Rivera, told News 6 that her security cameras picked up the sound of the second round of gunfire. Afterward, investigators found bullet holes in the property’s fence and the shattered back windshield of Rivera’s car parked in the driveway.

Rivera said that at the time, she was at home with her husband and granddaughter. That’s when they heard the knocking.

“First we heard somebody knocking very hard, very hard, and my husband went to the back and looked, and saw a man all covered with black,” she said. “And he had this gun, and he started shooting, like, two times. And then he ran from the front and the back here, and he started shooting like three times near the gate.”

According to Rivera, her husband told her to go lock herself and her granddaughter in a nearby room after the shooting started.

“But the thing is: when I was in the room and I heard that three shots, I thought he was killing my husband,” she later explained. “Emotionally, I got affected.”

Lopez said Gomez-Posso was considered armed and dangerous following his escape on Tuesday, though deputies later announced that Gomez-Posso had been arrested in Charlotte County after a high-speed pursuit.

Lopez said Gomez-Posso faces a charge of aggravated battery on a pregnant woman.
