CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – Cape Canaveral City Council members will discuss dogs on the beach during Tuesday’s meeting.

The discussion comes a day after Mayor Wes Morrison wrote about recent dog attacks in a post on a community Facebook page.

“You may have seen in the news and on social media that there was recently a dog attack on a woman at the beach near Harbor Heights and another off-leash dog-on-dog attack on the sidewalk near Monroe,” Morrison said.

According to the meeting agenda, the discussion will be about the dogs on the beach, off-leash areas and penalties for noncompliance.

Morrison wrote that “since this is a discussion item, it is not a vote, however, consensus on direction may be given to our staff by the council.”
