BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – For many, the best part of achieving a milestone is treating yourself to a nice hot meal.

I mean, that is how billionaire Jeff Bezos chose to celebrate the inaugural launch of his company’s rocket on Thursday.

Bezos, and members of his Blue Origin team, went to Country Cookin’ Diner in Port St. John later that afternoon – around 1 p.m., the person who waited on his table, Pam Pollock told News 6.

Pollock said she has worked in the restaurant industry off and on for 20 years and never served a high-profile guest prior to Bezos’ visit.

He ordered pancakes, over-medium eggs and a patty sausage, she said.

“He was very nice and gracious, no different from any of our wonderful customers. The only difference was perhaps the entourage of security he had with him,” Pollock told News 6.

Now she didn’t reveal how much the world’s second-richest person tipped her, only mentioning that he is very generous.

Country Cookin Diner is owned by Jim Broome, Debby Broome and Amanda McFarland – and they have three locations across the Space Coast. The location Bezos dined is the second one they opened in 2009, the first one was in Cocoa in 2021, they said.

The owners said other high-profile visitors to their restaurants throughout the years include former Gov. Charlie Crist, Sen. Rick Scott and Brevard Sheriff Wayne Ivey.

“For him to have selected Country Cookin is an honor. It also means a lot that along with his companies employing so many here in Brevard, he also stopped by to support a local business in the community. We would like to believe he found our diner through a recommendation from one of our many loyal customers,” the owners of the restaurant said in a statement to News 6.
