Michal’s Hope Gala this Saturday benefits kidney disease patients

Breakfast With Bridgett talks about organ transplants

ORLANDO, Fla. – There are more than 106,000 people waiting for an organ transplant across the U.S. including more than 5,700 Floridians.

Tuesday Breakfast with Bridgett, an organization dedicated to supporting kidney disease patients, shared their mission.

Michal’s Hope was founded by Charlyce Simmons, a two-time kidney transplant recipient who wanted to help others on long roads to recovery.

“I decided this time I was going to do something different. I was going to give back and help patients dealing with the same things I’ve dealt with since I’ve been there,” Simmons said.

The organization helps with financial resources, basic and essential needs, as well as emotional support for renal patients and their families.

Michal’s Hope accepts applications from kidney patients who need help with rent, mortgage, grocery, gas, transportation, medical expenses, and much more.

“Not only gas and other financial resources, but over holidays, we were able to cook meals for 150 patients and their families, for Thanksgiving just to provide a hot meal. For Christmastime, we delivered them to dialysis centers all over Central Florida,” said Kia Malone, a Michal’s Hope board member.

Michal’s Hope will host their annual fundraiser gala, Anchor of Hope Gala, this Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, in Orlando at Faith Hall. I’ll be serving as Mistress of Ceremonies. Click the link to learn more, donate and buy tickets https://www.michalshope.org/
