Legoland set to rebuild entertainment department amid mass layoffs

234 roles to be affected, mainly in entertainment

Legoland Florida (Legoland Florida)

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Legoland Florida is rebuilding its workforce with 234 impending permanent layoffs. The entertainment department makes up about 75% of these layoffs.

According to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice sent out Friday by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, the layoffs are scheduled to start on March 25 and will continue through April 7.

The notice states that among the 234 employees being laid off, none are represented by unions.

“At LEGOLAND Florida Resort we are making operational changes to help us elevate the guest experience in 2025 and beyond. This includes changes in how we deliver entertainment,” a Legoland representative said in a statement. “The decision to reduce the size of some of our teams was undoubtedly difficult, but these changes will allow the Resort to operate more flexibly and responsively in a competitive market.”

Legoland most recently canceled its long-running waterskiing show late last year.

“We are supporting employees during this period of change, including sharing job opportunities elsewhere in the wider visitor attraction sector in Florida, such as those being created at our new SEA LIFE Florida at the Resort,” the statement mentions.
