BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – Firefighters and police have confirmed a woman is dead after she was found floating in the ocean Saturday morning in Brevard County.
Brevard County Fire Rescue initially said that the woman had washed up on the beach. The Indian Harbour Beach Police Department later shared a news release on the matter which offered clearer details.
The release states police received a 911 call around 8 a.m. about a possible body floating in the ocean about 200 yards from the shoreline in the area of the 2000 block of Jimmy Buffett Memorial Highway. First responders from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit and Satellite Beach Fire Department assisted officers, using jet skis to recover the woman, police said.
The woman — who was determined to be about 30 to 40 years old — underwent life-saving efforts before being taken to a hospital where she was ultimately pronounced dead, according to the release.
