Bach Festival Society of Winter Park celebrates 90 years in Central Florida

John V. Sinclair joins Breakfast with Bridgett

WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Central Florida Music and Arts scene has a rich history. This weekend kicks off the celebration of the 90th Bach Festival hosted by the Bach Festival Society of Winter Park.

It is the third oldest continuously-running Bach Festival in the country and Central Florida’s longest-running performing arts organization.

This year, there more than a dozen events featuring a wide variety of music happening over the next several weeks.

This morning, the man referred to as Central Florida’s “resident conductor,” John V. Sinclair, shared details about the festival on Breakfast with Bridgett.

Sinclair serves as artistic director and conductor of the Bach Festival Society as well as director of music at Rollins College.

“We go every year and we try to do a program we think is varied and will meet the needs of the community. We like to say ‘our seats are reserved, but we’re not.’ We do everything from the classics and traditional music to very edgy music, too,” Sinclair said.

You’ll see Sinclair conducting eight of the events in this year’s festival, which also features the Bach Festival Choir and several other artists.
