OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – There are two new bilingual healthcare clinics in Osceola County to break down language barriers in healthcare.

Orlando Health Physician Associates Doctors’ Center Clinic has opened two new locations in Osceola County. These clinics are the result of a partnership between Orlando Health and Doctors’ Center Hospital in Puerto Rico.

The clinics are located at 3236 N. Poinciana Blvd. and 790 Buenaventura Blvd. in Kissimmee.

The services offered at these locations include family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, and obstetrics and gynecology. The clinics are designed to cater to the multilingual community, with physicians and team members fluent in both English and Spanish.

“So, this clinic is a very nice fusion,” Orlando Health Pediatrician Dr. Erick Santana said. “It’s not only important that we address our patients in English because we are here in, Florida, where we already have a large population that is from here. But we also have a big population for Spanish speaking.”

“In a multilingual region like Central Florida, it is important that we, as healthcare providers, effectively communicate medical information so our patients understand their diagnosis, treatment options and care instructions,” said Anjali Vyas, the President of Orlando Health Physician Associates. “We are proud to align with Doctors’ Center Hospital through these clinics and our shared mission of providing compassionate and world-class healthcare.”

Orlando Health Physician Associates is a primary healthcare group in Central Florida, offering same-day, next-day, and virtual appointments.

For patients like Yadiani Castro, having care completely in Spanish made her more comfortable with going to the doctor.

“Knowing that they speak Spanish, I was at ease and I wasn’t worried that since I don’t have a strong grasp on English there was going to be a problem communicating with them,” she said.

All signage and electronic health records are also available in both languages.

“I think it’s super important for me that I have a doctor who can speak the same language as me because then I can understand things more clearly and know what’s going on,” Castro said.

The need is great, especially in Osceola County, as 56 percent of the population identifies as Hispanic or Latino, according to the 2020 U.S. Census.

“You have someone that is the same culture as you speaking to you in a language that you understand. It makes that connection,” Santana said.
