ORLANDO, Fla. – The future of the Pulse memorial site is now in the hands of the Orlando City Council after the Pulse Memorial Advisory Committee finalized its recommended design.
The committee, which includes survivors of the 2016 nightclub shooting, spent months collaborating with architects to create a memorial that honors the victims and respects the wishes of their loved ones.
“Obviously, this took years to get where we are today, and realistically, this was months of meetings and a lot of feedback,” committee member Perry Snider said.
The final design features columns and flags representing the victims’ home countries, a reflecting pond, and a welcome center.

Nancy Rosado, another committee member, emphasized the collaborative effort behind the design.
“It took coming to the point where we all understood each other, where we respected our points of view, and were able to find middle ground instead of getting argumentative,” Rosado said.
She hopes the memorial will provide a sense of closure for survivors and victims’ families.
“Bringing it as close to closed as we can. That we will have shown the respect to those who’ve passed, to those who survived, and to their families,” she said.
The Orlando City Council is scheduled to review the committee’s recommendations during a work session on Feb. 24. However, construction on the memorial is not expected to begin until late 2026.
