None of the officers involved in the shooting were injured, according to the statement. Per protocol, those officers have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of FDLE’s investigation, according to a video statement shared Saturday by Titusville police Chief John Lau.

No other details were shared or confirmed at the time of this report, such as of any further circumstances that led to the shooting.

More information was promised at the conclusion of FDLE’s investigation, police said.

Titusville Mayor Andrew Connors issued the following statement on social media to pledge a full and impartial investigation was underway, announcing a community forum in the coming days and extending his condolences to Charles’ family and loved ones.

My fellow residents of Titusville,

Today, our community is hurting. A tragic incident has taken place involving an officer-involved shooting that resulted in the loss of a life. First and foremost, I want to extend my deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the individual who has passed. No words can ease their pain, but I want them to know that we grieve with them.

I also understand the deep emotions this incident has stirred—pain, frustration, and anger. These feelings are real, and they are valid. Transparency and accountability must be at the forefront as we seek answers. That is why I am ensuring that a full and impartial investigation is already underway. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and the State Attorney’s Office will conduct a thorough review to uncover all the facts. There will be no rush to judgment, but there will be no cover-ups either.

As your mayor, I am committed to justice, fairness, and ensuring that our city remains a place where all residents feel safe, respected, and heard. This is a moment for us to come together, not to be divided. I ask for your patience as the facts come to light, and I urge everyone to channel their emotions into peaceful dialogue and constructive action.

We will be holding a community forum in the coming days, where voices can be heard, concerns can be addressed, and a path forward can be shaped—together. I will be there, listening and working alongside you.

Titusville is a strong community. We have faced challenges before, and we have come through them by standing united. Let’s do so again, with a commitment to truth, justice, and healing.

May God bless our city and guide us through this difficult time.

Mayor Andrew Connors
