ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – With detailed costumes, vendors with one-of-kind collectibles and Instagrammable photo ops, there’s a little something for everyone at MegaCon 2025.

The massive pop culture convention is expected to bring in around 180,000 people from Thursday to Sunday.

Some of the biggest names in entertainment are part of the big event, including Jude Law, Ron Howard and Molly Ringwald.

MegaCon also includes immersive experiences like the Star Wars Village.

The village features replicas, built right here in Central Florida, of fan favorites from “The Mandalorian” including The Droid Bar and The Forge.

“We invite people in here to dance, hold their cellphones up with a flashlight, look around, take pictures. We have a security droid as the bartender, there’s a lot of old robot war veterans in here turned lounge singers,” said Geoffry Martz, who helped construct the Star Wars Village.

Angela Pearl came down from Atlanta and said she was impressed by the detail of everyone’s costumes.

“It’s honestly amazing,” Pearl said. “All the different costumes I’ve seen, ‘Star Wars’ or not, everybody has such a level of detail. Everybody has such a level of detail, and you just see people in their joy and in their element, and I think that’s something that we just need right now. We need more joy and more fun and more playfulness.”

While people can take photos with their favorite characters, there’s also plenty of opportunity to shop for specialty collectibles. One of the hot-ticket items at this year’s MegaCon are Funkos.

Angelica Henwood had a booth set up and said she thinks the Funkos are so popular because there is one for almost any genre.

“This is pretty much our biggest weekend and it’s funny that it’s Super Bowl weekend because we usually call it our Super Bowl,” Henwood said.

Andrew Moyes, vice president of Fan Expo HQ, said coming to MegaCon can be a transformative experience for many of its attendees.

“When they come here, they’re really amongst their friends and their community and they can celebrate and have a wonderful time,” Moyes said.
