ORLANDO, Fla. – Downtown Orlando’s sports and entertainment district, Westcourt, could be one step closer to reality.
On Monday, the Orlando City Council could approve what the building exteriors, streetscapes and other parts of the projects could look like.
The $500 million project was approved last April by the city council.
The undeveloped land located next to the Kia Center is expected to have retail space, restaurants, hotels and high-rise apartments.

According to the plans that are set to be brought before Orlando commissioners on Monday, Westcourt consists of two phases.
The first phase will include a 260-key full-service hotel with 16,000 square feet of indoor meeting space and conference space.
On top of the hotel, there will be 270 residential units. The plans also say residents who live in the apartments will get exclusive access to the hotel’s amenities, too. The hotel/residential building will be located at the corner of Church Street and Division Avenue.
Also included in the first phase is an 11-story office building at the southeast corner of Westcourt.
Westcourt’s first phase will also include the live venue space which is expected to hold up to 3,500 people for events like galas, banquets, product launches and more.
The plans include renderings for the 100,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space where the plan states “retail and dining take center stage.”
Plans for Westcourt also address parking with a 1,140-space parking garage along Central Avenue.
According to the plans, phase two of the project shows two additional residential towers bookending both sides of the parking garage — with a 25-level tower on the eastern corner and a 21-level tower on the western corner.
