ORLANDO, Fla – An expert matchmaker shared advice Wednesday on Breakfast with Bridgett on today’s dating scene just in time for Valentine’s Day.

April Davis started matchmaking at age 16, and that couple got married. She said meeting someone special through a mutual connection is still the number one way for successfully finding love.

But with only 10% of serious singles using apps and many other pitfalls, such as bots, scams and serial daters, she saw a real need for people hoping to find love.

With her background in process improvement, she started LUMA, an executive matchmaking company for people seeking a serious, long-term relationship.

“We sit down with our clients and we understand who they are and who they’re looking for in a partner. We ask them 100 questions, so essentially, we’re an extension of them and we go in our own proprietary database and vet people on their behalf. We interview 50 people per client, so it’s like we’re going on 50 first dates for them, so they don’t have to,” Davis said.

Davis also broke down the profile and vetting process, plus the red flags, green flags and how to check out a person’s background.
