ORLANDO, Fla. – Dr. Samer Elbabaa is the chief of pediatric neurosurgery and institute president.

Elbabaa joined Breakfast with Bridgett to talk the latest on the launch of Orlando Health Children’s Neuroscience Institute.

He’s been working with Orlando Health to expand their neurological care since 2017.

“In 2018, we were first in the state of Florida to serve families with fetuses, babies before birth with neurological conditions, such as spina bifida, and perform fetal surgery on the babies before birth. We probably took care of 54 families from the whole southeast of the country coming to Orlando to be cared for,” Elbabaa said.

Now with expanded resources through the institute, Elbabaa is excited about more advancements and possibilities in their wider range of care.

“We expanded our footprint outside of Central Florida by providing cutting edge treatments. We really take pride in being the first to offer them in the region. Not only fetal surgery, we’re talking about the best treatment options for autism, epilepsy and epilepsy surgery,” Elbabaa said.

“We’re blessed to serve this community. This community deserves the best. This new institute, we firmly believe, it’s going to offer a seamless and accessible, multi-specialty care for our families during very difficult times.”
